Miles Amoore reported on Lebanon, Syria and Islamic State for The Economist. Prior to this, he was The Sunday Times‘ Afghanistan and then its Africa correspondent. He has covered wars in Libya, Iraq and Gaza and reported from more than 20 countries. He took a year out from journalism in 2012 to work on a small sheep farm in Wales and edit a book about the Syrian civil war.
